The band also features Oregon's top pipe band drum corps.

Three-time participants in the World Pipe Band Championships in Scotland, this is the only Oregon band ever to place at the Championships: third place in the 2003 World Championship, and fifth place in the 2006 World Championship, Juvenile category.

The Sir James McDonald Pipe Band has earned recognition as one of America's few youth bagpipe bands. Formed in 1993 as the Oregon Pipers' Society Junior Pipe Band, today it is the top competition bagpipe band in Oregon. The band adopted its new name in 2000 in memory of Sir James McDonald (1899-1989), British Consul in Oregon for 49 years.

The band has been featured at corporate annual meetings, golf tournaments, company picnics, fairs, community parades, cultural and arts festivals, banquets, memorial services, media events, school activities, private parties and in many other settings.
